Cathy came to Albuquerque from Colorado in 2015 because she was fleeing domestic violence.  She was placed in a shelter for the first few months that she was in town.  She did the Coordinated Assessment through St. Martin’s in March of 2015, was placed in St. Martin’s Behavioral Health Program in May, and was finally housed in one of St. Martin’s housing programs in August of 2015.  When Cathy first came to St. Martin’s Hospitality Center and started working with our staff, she was very emotional and had problems doing the things that most of us take for granted on a daily basis. After working with staff in Behavioral Health she was more social and less emotional in public.  Cathy soon started attending St. Martin’s Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program and became very active with the group.  In July of 2016 she received a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and now uses their program to help with her housing needs. She has worked very hard to change her life and is doing well as she continues to attend therapy.
