Maria and her husband have been homeless for about two years. Maria admits that she has made bad choices which have contributed to her  lack of financial support and homelessness.  Maria and her husband state that after they became homeless they started using heroin to help numb their pain. She says that before she and her husband found St. Martin’s Hospitality Center they were experiencing suicidal ideation. Maria and her husband began to engage in services at St. Martin’s about three months ago. Since connecting with St. Martin’s Maria is happy to report that she has not used heroin in three months.

About three weeks ago Maria and her husband were issued a housing voucher through the St. Martin’s Hospitality Center Heading Home program.  Maria and her husband diligently searched for a home that would accommodate their family of five.  Within a week Maria and her husband found a comfortable three bedroom home.  Maria and her family are now housed and have a safe place to call their own.  Both Maria and her husband are learning to live a sober lifestyle. They continue to engage in services at St. Martin’s  and utilize the help offered by the Heading Home program.
