Lucille came to the St. Martin’s Heading Home program two years ago.  When she entered the program she had two misdemeanor cases pending with the court system for possession.  Lucille was given community service which she completed within 2 months.  She is a recovering heroin addict and has been faithful to her treatment program, going everyday attending groups and individual therapy. Lucille is also schizophrenic and has weathered losing her long-time psychiatrist and the struggle to find a new one that she felt she could trust and work with.  She was finally able to find new care last summer and that relationship is going well.

With the assistance of St. Martin’s, Lucille found a new and nicer apartment with more space for her and her dog family and was awarded SSI and is very excited about paying her rent and taking care of her own expenses.

Lucille is an excellent example of what can be done with the right support.
