Alberta and her daughter were both staying with Alberta’s sister in Farmington and came to Albuquerque to see their brother who was hospitalized in intensive care. When visiting hours were over at the hospital, Alberta and her daughter looked for the sister, and soon found out that the sister had drove off and left town.  They slept at the hospital in the waiting room that night.

Now homeless and left with what was packed in their suit cases, Alberta began to reach out to job services to find work.  She walked all over the city with her daughter looking for work and was offered a job at a local hotel. Alberta came to St. Martin’s looking for rental assistance.  She received the short term stabilization program, Rapid Rehousing, funded through the Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA).

Alberta’s daughter places fresh flowers on the dining room table of their 2 bedroom apartment weekly as a reminder they are home.
